At the same time, we were introduced to a wealth of new characters like Varrick (MVP?), Tonraq, Kya, Bumi, Eska and Desna. The Civil War between the Northern and Southern Water Tribes, for example, added an intriguing element of political drama. Where Book One pretty much all stayed in Republic City, Book Two expanded the show's horizons to include other parts of the Avatar world. Still, there was a lot of good stuff leading up to that moment. Despite being called "Spirits," it took about nine episodes for Korra to even reach the Spirit World. Of course, many fans would probably call Book Two a slow burn, and, admittedly, it was.
